Description
Technical & Manufacturing Relevance:
Lactoperoxidase is a naturally occurring antimicrobial enzyme found in milk, saliva, and other biological fluids. It plays a key role in the lactoperoxidase system (LPO system), which inhibits the growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi through oxidation of thiocyanate in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. Lactoperoxidase is widely used in nutraceutical, functional food, oral-care, and medical nutrition formulations. It is commonly incorporated into products targeting oral and dental health (toothpaste, mouthwash), immune and antimicrobial support, gut and microbiome balance, infant and clinical nutrition, and food preservation systems to extend shelf life.
Applicable Dosage Forms:
Capsules, Tablets, Powders, Sachets, Oral-care products (toothpaste, lozenges, mouthwash), Functional foods, Medical nutrition formulations
