Transdermal Patch Manufacturing Solution

Introduction

We specialize in the manufacturing of transdermal patches, designed to deliver active ingredients directly through the skin for controlled and reliable release. Formulated with the active substance dispersed in a polymer matrix, these patches offer consistent delivery, ease of use, and broad application across plant-based functional formula. Our multi-layered patch systems combine backing films, adhesives and stability for complex formulations. Reservoir-type patches, engineered with a dedicated drug reservoir separated by a rate-controlling membrane, ideal for sensitive actives requiring consistent, long-duration delivery.

    Key Advantages

    • Bypasses First-Pass Metabolism: Avoids gastrointestinal degradation and liver metabolism, enhancing bioavailability.
    • Controlled, Sustained Release: Maintains steady plasma levels for 24 hours or more, improving efficacy and compliance.
    • Reduced Side Effects: Minimizes peak-trough plasma level fluctuations.
    • Non-Invasive & Convenient: Simple application and improved patient adherence.
    • Termination of Therapy: Patch can be removed to instantly stop delivery.

    Types of Transdermal Patches

    Matrix Patch
    • The most common type. The active ingredient is dissolved or suspended directly within the skin-controlling adhesive layer. Simple and comfortable.
    Reservoir Patch
    • The active ingredient is contained in a separate reservoir, separated from the adhesive by a rate-controlling membrane. Allows for precise control of delivery rate.
    Multi-Layer Laminate
    • A more complex matrix system with separate layers for backing, matrix, adhesive, and release liner. Offers flexibility in design.

    Manufacturing & In-Process Control

    Matrix Patch

Dispensing– All raw materials are precisely weighed under controlled conditions, with full traceability maintained in the Dispensing Record.

Coating Solution Preparation– The active ingredient, excipients, and adhesive are blended into a solvent system to create a uniform coating solution, ensuring even distribution.

Coating– Using knife-over-roll or slot-die technology, the prepared solution is applied to a release-lined film with strict control over thickness and width.

Drying– The coated web is passed through a multi-zone drying oven, where carefully regulated temperature and airflow remove solvents, leaving a stable adhesive matrix.

Lamination– A backing layer (such as polyester) is applied to the dried film, completing the patch structure and ensuring durability.

Die-Cutting– The laminated web is precisely die-cut into the required patch size and shape, ready for packaging.

Documentation– All critical process parameters—including coating weight, drying temperature, and line speed—are systematically recorded in the Equipment Log and Batch Manufacturing Record to maintain compliance and audit readiness.

    Package & Labelling

Inspection- Each patch undergoes visual or automated inspection to detect and eliminate defects, ensuring only compliant units move forward.

Pouch Forming, Filling & Sealing- Using form-fill-seal technology, patches are individually packaged into laminate pouches that are hermetically sealed. This step is critical to preserve shelf life and product stability.

Labelling- Every pouch is clearly labeled with lot number and expiry details, providing traceability and regulatory compliance.

Label Reconciliation- A strict reconciliation process is carried out for laminate roll stock and finished pouches, minimizing errors and ensuring accurate inventory control.

Mandatory Information- Packaging must display all required details: product name, batch number, manufacturing and expiry dates, active ingredients and total content, patch size, manufacturer details, usage directions, and safety warnings.

Technical Highlights- Cartons and pouches may also state “Transdermal Patch,” duration of delivery (e.g., 24-Hour), and the intended site of application, supporting correct use.

Special Messaging- Optional content can highlight consumer-friendly features such as “Continuous Release,” “Once-Daily Application,” “Water-Resistant,” or QR codes for digital product access.
