Papaver somniferum has dual regulatory status depending on the plant part used:
• Poppy Seeds & Seed Oil are widely used in food, nutraceutical, and cosmetic manufacturing for nutritional value, digestive support, natural oil content, and as a flavoring/nutritive ingredient.
• Opium latex and capsules are used only in licensed pharmaceutical manufacturing for producing API intermediates and controlled medicines (analgesics, antitussives, antispasmodics), strictly under government authorization.
